Boiler installation and heating in Preston

Heating work for houses and small commercial premises around Preston. Boiler installs, radiator circuits, controls, and the faults that leave you with cold rooms. The electrical and plumbing side of the same job stays on one number. Call 07869 600553.

Heating work, from a repair to a new system

The heating side of the business is boilers, radiators, cylinders, controls, and the faults that show up when a house goes cold. It sits with the plumbing and the electrics because a heating job rarely stays inside one trade. A boiler needs a flue, pipework, a spur and controls that actually speak to each other.

  • Boiler installation, where we have agreed the appliance and the house suit each other
  • Radiators that stay cold, systems that bang, and controls that do not call for heat
  • Cylinders, programmers, thermostats and wiring centres
  • Leaks on the heating circuit, dealt with before they take a ceiling down
  • Light commercial heating plant for small premises
  • Heat pumps, where the building is suitable, alongside the renewable work

If the first problem is a leak rather than the boiler, start with the plumber in Preston page or just describe both. One number either way.

What to tell us about a breakdown

The make and model if you can see them. Whether you have heating, hot water, neither, or an error code on the display. Whether there is water on the floor. Whether the programmer screen is blank. Those four facts separate a controls fault from a boiler fault from a leak.

Resetting a boiler once is reasonable. Resetting it all evening is not a repair. If it locks out again, leave it and call. If you can smell gas, or you suspect a gas leak, open windows, do not use switches, leave the property and call the gas emergency service. Then tell us once you are safe, if you still need the system looked at.

A new boiler, said plainly

A straight swap, an old boiler in the same place, is a different job from moving it, converting a system, or replacing tanks and a cylinder with a combi. We look at the flue route, the condensate, the pipework and the electrics before we name a system. A photo of the existing boiler and of the consumer unit is the right way to start.

Ask us on that first call if you need a particular registration mentioned on the paperwork. We will tell you straight what we can issue for the job. We would rather have that conversation before the old boiler comes off the wall.

Power and controls are checked properly because a new boiler on a poor spur, or a thermostat that was never wired correctly, does not heat the house. That electrical work is in-house. It is also described from the electrician in Preston page if the board itself needs attention.

Cold radiators and tired systems

One cold radiator is often a valve or air. A whole floor that will not heat is more likely a valve, a pump or a control. A system that has to be bled every week has a different problem again. We do not jump to "you need a new boiler" because a pin is stuck.

Older Preston houses often have radiators that were added in bits, pipe sizes that change under the floor, and programmers that were fitted long after the boiler. Newer houses around Warton fail more often on a part, a control or a system that has never been balanced. We work out which you have before we sell you parts.

Heat pumps and the electrical side

An air source heat pump is a heating install and an electrical install. The outdoor unit, the cylinder, the controls and the supply all have to be designed together. We fit this kind of plant where the property suits it. A photo of an outdoor unit we have installed is on this page. It is not a claim that every house should rip out its boiler.

If you are comparing a new boiler with a heat pump, say that. We will talk about the building, not a slogan. Solar PV, which often gets discussed in the same breath, is on the solar page.

FAQs

Heating questions

Do you install boilers?
Yes. Boiler installation and heating system work is part of the business, alongside the plumbing and the electrics. Tell us the fuel, the property and whether it is a straight swap or a system that needs redesigning. We will tell you if that particular job is one we can take.
The radiators are cold. Is that a boiler fault?
Sometimes. It can also be a pump, a valve, air in the system, a stuck pin, or controls that are not calling for heat. We look at the system rather than swapping the boiler because one room is cold. Describe which radiators work and which do not.
Can you repair controls, programmers and thermostats?
Yes, where the fault is the control rather than the boiler itself. A lot of no-heating calls are a dead programmer, a flat battery in a wireless thermostat, or a wiring centre that has given up. Those are electrical as much as they are heating, which is why one team is useful.
Do you fit air source heat pumps?
Heat pump installs are part of the renewable work, and we have fitted outdoor units as part of heating upgrades. They are not a like-for-like swap for every old boiler. Tell us the house, the insulation and what is there now. There is more on the solar and renewables page, because the electrical side of a heat pump matters as much as the pipework.
We have no hot water. Who do we ring?
Ring us and say whether you have a combi or a cylinder. No hot water with the heating still working is a different fault from a boiler that will not fire at all. If water is leaking from the cylinder or the boiler, say that too. Leaks are urgent.
Can you work around a shop or a small commercial building?
Yes, for light commercial heating plant and the controls on it. We agree a time you can have the heat or the hot water off. Describe the building. If it is a large plant room outside the work we do, we will say so.
Will a new boiler need electrical work?
Often, yes. A fused spur, a programmer, a thermostat, bonding, and sometimes a consumer unit that is not fit to feed the controls. We look at that as part of the same visit rather than sending a second person later in the week.
How quickly can you come?
No heat and no hot water in cold weather is treated as urgent, and we are on call 24/7. A boiler swap or a full system is a booked job, priced after we have seen the house or had enough detail to be honest. Call 07869 600553 and we will tell you which yours is.
